Just wanted to drop by quickly and say 'm sorry :( I haven't been around much, but I'm very slowly adding on to parts of stories and some of my doujin here and there... hopefully this holiday I'll be able to update with something! Maybe sooner, maybe a little later (new year's?). We'll just have to wait and see!

I hope everyone is having a good December!

Laurell K Hamilton in Portland

  • Dec. 11th, 2009 at 9:27 PM
So the temp job ended today and I'm back to being unemployed, lol.

I DID do something very fun and enjoyable for me this evening. I went to see Laurell K Hamilton and got her newest book, Divine Misdemeanors. It was SO much fun!!

She is the nicest person and her sense of humor is awesome. I absolutely enjoyed myself and can't wait to dive into this new book. The event took place at McMenamins Bagdad theater and even though it started a few minutes late, it was worth the wait.

Ms. Hamilton answered all the questions sent her way, I even got a few video recorded on my camera phone (but I ran out of memory so I had to stop, lol). She talked about all the series that she is working on and books that she has worked on in the past. Her husband is awesome too and funny; he even answered a few questions.

It was wonderful to get some insight in to her characters. I didn't know this but at first, Jean-Claude wasn't going to be french, he was going to be spanish with a different name. I can't even IMAGINE that! I love my Jean-Claude too much. She even talked about Olaf and Edward.

I was able to get two signed copies of Divine Misdemeanors. I was kinda bad because I had bought one at Barnes and Noble earlier in the week, but I didn't know that she had signed the books earlier in the day. So I went up, intent on purchasing a signed copy and I was going to take the one I bought back to B&N, and when I told the employee that I had a copy that wasn't signed, she just switched the books out and gave me a signed one.

I'm glad I didn't have to pay for three books, lol.

Anyway, it was just so much fun and she gave great advice to some of those brave enough to ask, about how to get through writers block and a few notes on rejection letters from publishers. Oddly, one piece of advice that she gave was exactly what I had told my writing bud and PIC yesterday, so that was good to know that I had the right idea.

If she ever comes back to Portland, I will definately be there and maybe I'll be brave enough to ask a question. (I'm really happy that the cab was able to get me home before it started to freezing rain or snow like it's suppose to. Now that I think about it, I'm gonna run across the street to the store to replenish my stock of soda, cus I don't go outside when its icy/snowy.)

This has me in a writing mood now.

Maybe tomorrow, if I don't get suprised by unexpectedness, I'll churn out a new chapter. For those of you who might see this and you're reading The Cousin of Death or Always Smiling, I have a special little something that I will be giving you the link to when I post the next chapter for TCOD, and for AS, I'll be posting it when I get to the chapter.

The Crossing

Title: The Crossing
41/41
Author: BmblBee
Paring: S/X
Rating: NC17
Disclaimer: The Bee owns none of the characters or products named and
makes no money off anything. Sad state of affairs.
Warnings: Bad language, strong sexual content between M/M.
Second warning: Although I did do a lot of research, this story is not intended to
be an exact historical account so please don't scream and pounce on a detail or
two that may not be entirely accurate.

Credit: The snippets at the tops of the pages are from a web site entitled "Titanic,
A Time Line of Events". Earl Chapman on the Titanic Discussion List originally
published this chronology of events. Chapman modified it slightly in 1997. The
1997 version formed the basis of this timeline.

Summary: AU. It is the spring of 1912 and Xander Harris, who has been living
with relatives in Ireland, is heading home. As a gift of love, he was booked
passage on the maiden voyage of the Titanic with the promise that it will be the
adventure of a lifetime.

Author's note: This story is NOT a retelling of any of the Titanic movies.
It is the tale of one man and one vampire forgotten by history and the destiny they
both find on this doomed crossing.

Special thanks to the gracious Silk_Labyrinth for her patient beta work.
